Julian Assange will travel by a well-guarded prison van from the High Security prison in Belmarsh to the High Court in London to face two judges on his final appeal to decide whether he will be extradited to the US on a variety of charges that include espionage.
The experts on the matter believe this will be his last chance to avoid to what amounts to a certain death sentence in the United States. This does not mean he will receive lethal injection, but a 170-year prison sentence, which, considering the US’s barbaric reputation for their high security prison system, and his current mental and physical condition, the Australian editor/journalist will come to his death in a matter of months. This is not just my view, but the opinion of his wife and lawyers.
If you have been following the Assange case with any scrutiny, will know that these hearings resembled the Stalin purges after the Second World War. It was evident to many law academics and experts in the United Nations, that Assange’s past hearings were nothing more than the antics of a clown show, a kangaroo court.
The prosecution would not permit the defense lawful ‘discovery’ (claiming National Security); Assange’s meetings with his council during his time in the Ecuadorian Embassy were wired, filmed behind closed doors, (violating client/lawyer privilege); during the first two hearings he was placed in a large plastic cage and not permitted to talk to his representation (he could barely here the judge); one of the prosecution's main witnesses was paid by them, and turned out to be a convicted pedophile (he later withdrew his testimony); currently Assange’s defense team is suing the CIA, and particularly, then CIA director Mike Pompeo, for unlawful surveillance and stated threats to the Journalists life.
To be sure, nothing mentioned above will make any difference.
Why?
Because it has been proven repeatedly that the British court is corrupt to the highest echelons of power, and the rights of Assange have been violated at every turn in this case, and the likelihood of a fair decision on the 20th-21st of Feb., is close to zero.
The Australian PM Albanese made a weak statement at the beginning of his tenure. A few MPs travelled to Washington DC to plead for his release into Australian custody with no results.
As I have written elsewhere, this is not a case of the US government but the dead set persecution by the US Security State.
WikiLeaks dumped Vault 7, CIA documents revealing illegal surveillance on American citizens and foreign leaders, this was much too embarrassing for this organization, and they want a head on a pike, thus Assange’s fate is sealed.
It is my opinion that most of the security organizations are the ones really in charge when it comes to foreign policy. The Five-Eyes Network of organized thugs – UK, US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand run the show. Thus, there is nothing our elected officials can do but follow orders and, in many cases, with a gun to their collective heads.
What will this happen to an already massive distrust of our major institutions?
This mistrust will only become much worse. This will force a stronger grip by governments to control our lives.
As far as Freedom of the Press is concerned, well, this will be a forgotten memory.
On the other hand (hope springs eternal) Assange might receive some type of clemency, released from the UK’s terrorist prison, unite with his family, and come home to Australia.
Because the UK is merely a satellite-poodle country for the US, (like Australia) I can deduce that Assange will be extradited to the United States of Amnesia.
This decision will not only change the planet for the worse but will drastically change the Free Press as we know it today.
Peace.
